![]() ![]() Keep in mind that publishers and developers release new games every day, and developers update their games even more frequently. We dug through as many game listings as possible to bring you a comprehensive list of all cross-platform games. To make matters more confusing, certain backward-compatible games on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X still support crossplay on the most recent hardware, even if there isn’t an official release for that hardware. Unfortunately, there aren’t any rules when it comes to crossplay, so each game handles the feature a little differently. Concept art can be unlocked and it’s just a complete package of love and nostalgia and is one of the best games this year so far! A wonderful orchestra of retro and rampage. Talking of health you can pick which images are used for the food which is a nice touch. Gameplay-wise it’s the same formula we all K ow and love with plenty of weapons and breakables, cash will boost your score, and food replenishes health. If that’s not your bag and you want a straight-up brawler then you are catered for with battle mode where 2 players face off until death. Unlocking these characters is based on hitting markers on a rolling score meter thus meaning a lot of replayability. I have run through the story multiple times in order to unlock the original Streets of Rage characters from 1-3.these characters are a bit stronger but they look like they did back then and come complete with retro sound effects and specials. It’s hard not to talk about Streets Of Rage 4 without smiling or wanting to play it. 12 stages await you and you have a boss fight to look forward to at the end of each, each stage is a thing of beauty in its own right. Controls again have a modern layout using all the buttons or you can go proper oldskool and use a 3 button attack layout just like the Mega Drive. Music gets a lot of treatment with a new banging soundtrack but also a retro compilation. Graphics can be the super smooth cel-shaded affair you see now or you can do different layers of pixel sheen. You can tailor so much of the game to your personal liking. Even simple things pleased me like beating a guy up and someone comes up behind you, now in the old days you had to change your target or prepare to be hit, not anymore as you have a back kick that knocks them back and allows you to focus on beating the first guy. They clearly had a ton of fun making this and poured so much love into the game. Lizard cube has done such an amazing job of making it play modern but feels retro. ![]() I’m gonna start this review off with how it transported me back to the old days of playing the originals. No way to check which characters you have finished the game with.Unlock scores takes a lot of playing! (a heads up, It’s actually not a con but it needed to be said).Assist mode-(optional) add lives, scores, and specials.Retro characters look the pixel part complete with sound effects.Score’fill the bar and hit the markers to unlock retro characters from Streets of Rage 1-3. ![]()
